Sorry I've been so absent lately, things around here have been a bit hectic and blogging has had to take a backseat. Unfortunately, I'm probably not going to be able to post much this weekend either, but hopefully next week I'll be able to get back on track. I have several books I want to talk about so I'm not lacking in stuff to post, I just have to write the posts! Apologies again for my absence. I have missed the blogosphere and will be glad to get back into it soon. :)

Bloodlines Cover!

So I still haven't gotten to read Last Sacrifice (next on my reading list, though, finally! *squeak*), but I adore the Vampire Academy series, so naturally I'm beyond excited about the spinoff series, Bloodlines. And now we have a cover for the first book in that series, also titled Bloodlines:

It's way different from the VA covers (which is probably good), and I'm still not quite sure what I think of it. But I so want to read this book. What do you guys think?

Yesterday, Ally Carter revealed the cover for her next book, Uncommon Criminals, the sequel to Heist Society. I really enjoyed Heist Society so I can't wait to read this one! Without further ado, here's the cover:

Katie Alender, author of Bad Girls Don't Die (which was delightfully creepy and also generally awesome), posted on her blog today a picture of the ARC and the jacket copy for the sequel, From Bad to Cursed.

Super Awesome Cover Love

This would be released on a Wednesday when I already have my WoW pick up. I considered scheduling this post to show up tomorrow, but I'm really excited about this, so I had to share it now. I am so excited for this book, you guys. I loveloveloved the first two books in the series and cannot wait to read this one! It's sad that the series will be coming to a close, because I'll miss these characters, but oh my goodness I simply MUST find out what happens.

Ooh, Ahh (New Cover!)

On Thursday, Maureen Johnson revealed the cover of The Last Little Blue Envelope. Yes, this is the sequel to Thirteen Little Blue Envelopes, which I read a while back and really enjoyed. Here's the cover - isn't it pretty?

And she has a face! As those of you who read MJ books often will know, faces are a rare thing on her covers. She also revealed the title of her new paranormal murder mystery/thriller series, coming October 2011. The first book will be called The Name of the Star and it's the first book of the Shades of London trilogy.

They sound kind of awesome. I can't wait to read The Last Little Blue Envelope and The Name of the Star!

Demonglass Cover!

Yesterday, Rachel Hawkins posted the cover of the sequel to Hex Hall on her blog. So without further ado, here is the Demonglass cover:

Is this cover awesome or what?! I completely adore it. I love that it keeps the same reflection kinda look as the first one, but this one has fire and Sophie's not confused, she's totally kick-butt. If you want to read Rachel's thoughts on her cover, you can see the cover-reveal blog post here.

I cannot wait for this book, you guys. I loved Hex Hall and I am so excited for Demonglass!

Beautiful Darkness!

This is the part where I squeak like a fangirl because Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl comes out today. I am so beyond excited to read this book - I adored the first one. Sadly, I couldn't get to B&N today, but I will definitely make an excursion to get this book veryverysoon.

I know there are several other awesome books that come out today, but this is the only one that I know off the top of my head, and I have a buuunch of Spanish homework that needs doing. I'm sorry I can't spotlight all of today's great releases. But this one I am absolutely psyched about, so I had to remind everyone that today's it's big welcome-to-the-world day!

Cover Love!

I got home a few minutes ago and was checking updates for blogs I follow, and the first thing I saw was this:

Yeah, that is exactly what you think it is. This is the absolutely freakin' gorgeous cover of Stolen Nights by Rebecca Maizel, the sequel to Infinite Days (my review is here). Side note: Infinite Days was one of the first books I reviewed on Bookworm Boulevard! It was awesome, if you're wondering.

I love this cover. It's so pretty. So, so pretty. And I can't wait to read the book! The ending of Infinite Days left me wanting more, so I'm definitely excited for this one. Who's with me there?

And in other news, I just wanted to congratulate Kristi at The Story Siren on reaching 100 "In My Mailbox" posts yesterday! I didn't have any new books to post about, but IMM was the first book-blogging meme that I encountered that I got excited about participating in, and Kristi's blog has been so inspirational and helpful to me as a new book blogger. So three cheers for Kristi and The Story Siren!

Being Jamie Baker

Hey guys! Today I bring you news about a book and a contest.

Kelly Oram's debut novel, Being Jamie Baker, came out in June. I haven't had the opportunity to read it yet, but I have read the first chapter online (which you, too, can do by clicking on this link; you can also watch the trailer here, although I've been having some trouble getting it to load) and it looks like it would be a fun read. Here's the summary from Goodreads, if you're curious:

And from what I can tell from the first chapter, there's a lot of talk about a character named Becky. If novel-Becky ends up being a significant character, I'm going to feel like I'm talking about myself in third person a lot when I talk about Being Jamie Baker. I haven't encountered a whole lot of literary Beckys (Becky Thatcher in Tom Sawyer excepted, of course).

Forever is Beautiful.

I'm not talking about forever as in infinite time, I'm talking about Forever, the third Wolves of Mercy Falls book by the lovely Maggie Stiefvater. The cover was revealed today and it is simply gorgeous. But don't take my word for it. Here. Look. Bask in its loveliness.

Two Threes

Happy Monday, everybody! Two newsy items today, both involving third books.

First, Becca Fitzpatrick announced that there will be a third book in the Hush, Hush series! Book three is titled Tempest and we can expect to see it in fall of 2011. You can see the full post on Becca's blog, here. I'm beyond excited for the release of Crescendo in October and I'm sure Tempest will be awesome too! Yay!

AND, Sarah Rees Brennan has just announced the title of the third Demon's Lexicon book! There's no release date yet that I've seen, but it will be called The Demon's Surrender (full post on Sarah's blog here). I'm so psyched for this one! I adored The Demon's Lexicon and The Demon's Covenant, and I cannot wait to find out what the conclusion to this wonderful trilogy has in store.

New Books and Long Weekends (and Piracy)

One thing I love about long weekends: reading time! I read lots of books this weekend - finished Clockwork Angel, read Flawless and Perfect and The Wednesday Wars, and started Fever Crumb - and it was really nice. Ordinarily I probably wouldn't have read quite that much, but I was a little bit sick (yay for going through half a box of tissues in a day, by yourself) and so I wasn't going anywhere. And the reading time was really, really nice.

One thing I do not love about long weekends: teachers decide to make up for them with lots of extra work all at the same time. It may be a while before I can finish Fever Crumb.

One thing that is special about today: book release! Firelight by Sophie Jordan hits shelves today, which is one that I'm very excited about. I've seen lots of ARC reviews of Firelight and it looks awesome - I can't wait to read it!

Finally, one issue that I think matters a lot: e-piracy. It's not cool, you guys. Don't do it! Illegally downloading books --> authors do not get paid for those books --> authors do not write more books --> we do not get to read more books. Plus, there's the whole thing about it being illegal. Illegal = bad. Kristi at The Story Siren wrote about it a lot more eloquently than that. You should check out her post on the subject.

On Shelves Today...

Hey guys, just wanted to remind you about some awesome book news! There are some really exciting new books out today!

First and foremost, the book we have all been waiting for since City of Glass... The Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare is out today. I can't wait to read this one! So excited. Definitely check it out if you get the chance.

Also released today is Halo by Alexandra Adornetto. I don't know too much about this one but it seems to be about angels as well and it looks really cool, so I'll definitely have to read it ASAP.

Then there's Vanished by Kate Brian, the twelfth (I think? Unless it's eleventh or thirteenth...I've honestly kind of lost count) book in the Private series. Even though I've lost count of how many books there are, I do enjoy the series, so I'll be reading this one when I get the chance too.

Unraveled by Gena Showalter is also in stores today. I haven't had the chance to read Intertwined yet, but it looks quite awesome so I'll have to do something about that soon.

Release Day!!!

Today is the release date for Mockingjay.

I have my copy. I also have more homework than I know what to do with. Aaack. My solution: do homework very rapidly, then read all night. I can sleep through class tomorrow...right?

Just wanted to remind you guys that Mockingjay is out today! Also wanted to tell you that I will be avoiding the blogosphere (and the internet) until I finish. I don't want any accidental spoilers...that might kill me.

So I dunno about everybody else, but I'm completely psyched that The Clockwork Angel, the first of Cassandra Clare's Infernal Devices series, comes out in less than two weeks. (How can anyone not be?!) I, like most of the world (with the exception of a few lucky bloggers who have been at this much longer than have), did not get an ARC of The Clockwork Angel and I totally can't wait to read it:

I can't believe I didn't post about this already. I could have sworn I did a post about this when I first found out about it. Silly Becky. But anyway...

AuthorMix is a cool online show type thing in which authors talk about...well, everything, really. So far, there are five episodes out, and they talk about everything from getting published to high school to favorite foods. The authors on the current series of videos are Katie Alender (Bad Girls Don't Die), Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl (Beautiful Creatures), Melissa de la Cruz (Blue Bloods), and Cecil Castelluci (Boy Proof, The Queen of Cool, Beige).

Book Blogger Hop + Awesome News

It is once again time for the Book Blogger Hop, hosted by Crazy for Books. This week's question is: Do you listen to music when you read? If so, what are your favorite reading tunes?


My answer: I have two younger brothers who like to make a lot of noise, so having noise while I'm reading doesn't bother me at all - but having music on usually does. I love music, and I'll tend to get distracted and pay more attention to the lyrics (or the actual music, if it's instrumental) than what I'm reading.


And now, some awesome news!


One of my favorite series is the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare (if you haven't read them, go do that now. Seriously. Don't finish reading this post, go read City of Bones). And she announced the night before last in a web chat that there are going to be more TMI books!


City of Fallen Angels, a Simon-centric fourth book, was already in the works, scheduled for release on April 5, 2011. But now there are going to be two more after that. City of Lost Souls will be released in May of 2012 and City of Heavenly Fire in September of 2013. The Infernal Devices trilogy, a prequel series to TMI, is also going to be released during that timeframe, beginning with The Clockwork Angel at the end of this month.
